A Key Resource
There are numerous resources and guides to help you launch, expand or strengthen food security efforts in your community. For our coalition, the Toolkit for Developing and Strengthening Hunger Free Community Coalitions, created by the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty, was especially valuable. It provided much of the foundation we needed and offered a clear structure we could adapt to fit our project. Just as important, we benefited from the guidance and expertise of the Baylor team, whose support helped us navigate challenges and stay aligned with best practices.
What made our project different, however, was the practical implementation of those concepts in a real-world setting. Rather than treating the Toolkit as a checklist, we used it as a flexible framework, adapting strategies to fit our project’s goals, piloting ideas in real time and learning from the outcomes. We encourage you to explore the Toolkit and then shape it to fit the unique dynamics of your project.
